María Belén Paoletta
Founding Partner
María Belén Paoletta is the Founding Partner of IntLaw Consortium LLP. Belén is a distinguished international lawyer with expertise in international law and comparative law. She advises sovereign States across Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Her experience with States, international organizations, and corporate clients is centered on aligning domestic legal frameworks with international standards, advising on international regulatory matters, supporting conflict prevention efforts, and navigating international dispute resolution processes.
Belén sits on the Board of Directors and holds the position of Chief Legal Officer of Advocacy Initiative for Development, an organization with special consultative status before the United Nations Economic and Social Council. She provides senior legal oversight to support initiatives aimed at advancing human rights across Africa. She is also listed in the roster of Pro Bono Counsels available to assist convicted persons in post-conviction proceedings before the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals.
Additionally, Belén is as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Buenos Aires Law School. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on international law and comparative legal systems. She is regularly invited to speak at international conferences, and her academic contributions appear in leading journals worldwide, covering diverse areas of international law. She is also an editorial contributor to the Argentine Council for International Relations’ Bulletin of International Law and serves as a Year in Review Reporter for the Yearbook of International Environmental Law, published by Oxford University Press. Belén also leads IntLaw's flagship research project: Greatest Hits & Hidden Gems of International Law, which she was invited to further elaborate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law.
Belén earned her Law Degree summa cum laude from the University of Buenos Aires Law School, graduating in the top 1% in the institution’s history. She has received multiple prestigious awards and accolades recognizing her contributions to legal scholarship and her consistent excellence in both academic and professional endeavors.
